The Katsina State Command, under the able leadership of CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in its determination in the ongoing fight against banditry in the state, received a distress call at the Faskari divisional headquarters that bandits in their numbers wielding dangerous weapons such as AK47 rifles attacked Yankara village, Faskari LGA, with intent to kidnap.

2. Upon receipt of this, the DPO mobilized and promptly responded to the scene. Upon noticing the presence of the operatives, the bandits opened fire on the police operatives, to which the officers valiantly returned fire, forcing the terrorists to abandon their evil plan and flee into the nearby bush.

3. While combing the scene, the body of one (1) neutralized suspected bandit as well as one Ak-47 rifle were recovered. The body of the neutralized suspected bandits was later identified as one Bada Yaji, 25 years old, of Dajin Dungu via Yartuwaru, Faskari LGA. The effort is still on with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects, as the investigation is ongoing.

4. While praising the operatives' bravery and gallantry, the CP urged the good citizens of the state to keep providing the command and other security agencies with crucial and timely information on criminal activities so that swift action could be taken to stop any criminal activity in the state and to report to the nearest police station any person seen with suspicious injuries, as some of the bandits have escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.
